Midweek Reset: Errands, Edges & Uncle Tommy

This week, my husband and I did something glorious on a regular ol’ weekday—we dropped Zoya off with her Uncle Tommy and ran errands without a toddler. Honestly, it felt like a mini staycation in the middle of our normal schedule.

Our first stop was TJ Maxx because I needed some new hair care essentials. You already know that store is like a grown-up scavenger hunt, and I found a few gems I’m excited to try. But the real win? Browsing the aisles without pushing a stroller or handing out snacks on demand.

I’m also on the hunt for pieces for my Cowboy Carter tour outfit—yes, I’m already planning the fit. It’s kind of sentimental because when I was pregnant with Z, she unknowingly went to two Beyoncé concerts in the womb. Now she’s here, and I get to go to another tour, this time as a mama.

Having my husband along for the ride made the day even sweeter. He has such a great eye and helped me pick out pieces that really flatter my shape. It felt good to be seen and supported, especially during this postpartum chapter where my confidence is still finding its footing.

We made it back home to a sleepy, borderline grumpy toddler. The minute she got in my arms, she was ready to clock out—two hours before her bedtime. I was hesitant to let her sleep that early, but she was clearly exhausted. And guess what? She slept for 13 hours straight.

Anytime she gets that kind of deep rest, she usually wakes up having leveled up. (Yes, I just made a video game reference for my baby.) I’m always in awe of what new milestone she’ll unlock next.

Taking that weekday break reminded me just how important it is to pour into our relationship and into ourselves. It doesn’t take a full day—sometimes, a quick trip to TJ Maxx and a long toddler nap is all you need for a little reset.
