One Month on Phentermine: A New Chapter Begins

A month ago, I made a decision that I know my future self will thank me for. I started taking phentermine, a prescription medication that helps with appetite suppression and weight loss. It’s designed to support people like me—those who are ready to make a lifestyle change but need a little help getting started.

Phentermine isn’t a magic fix. It’s not a shortcut. But it is a tool that, paired with intention and consistency, can support real transformation. And already, in just one month, I’ve lost 12 pounds.

But here’s the thing—what I’m most proud of isn’t the number on the scale. It’s what’s happening in my everyday life.

Thanks to the side effects of the medication (namely, a super dry mouth!), my water intake has drastically increased—which is something I’ve always struggled with. Hydrating more consistently has helped me feel clearer, lighter, and just…better.

I’m walking more. I can take more strolls with my daughter or with Sirius, our dog. I feel a little more energized, and I can feel my body responding to the changes I’m making. Even walking up the stairs feels a little less daunting—and that matters to me more than any clothing size ever could.

Why did I start this journey?

Because I want to be a healthier me.
Because I want to chase my toddler around without needing to catch my breath.
Because I want to prepare my body for the future—when we’re ready to grow our family.
Because if I had stayed on the path I was on, I know I would’ve been facing some serious health issues down the road.

This journey isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress. It’s about turning the small wins into motivation and finding joy in the process. I even want to make this more fun for myself—maybe by turning it into a personal game or challenge (TBD, but I’m brainstorming!).

I’m not chasing a specific number on the scale. I’m chasing a better quality of life. The goal? Being able to do everyday things without strain. Walking up stairs without getting winded. Feeling strong, vibrant, and present for my daughter and everything this life has to offer.

This is the beginning of a new chapter—a healthier Brittany. I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m excited. And that’s more than enough to keep going.
